Venue Hunt: The Manila Diamond Hotel

The Manila Diamond Hotel is another 5 star hotel in Manila within the close vicinity of our church. As per Google Map, it will take roughly around 9 minutes from San Agustin Church to get to the hotel.

We parked at the side of Diamond Hotel which directly faces Roxas Boulevard. I found it odd that the drive way and entrance of the hotel is facing J. Quintos Sr. Street, which is the side of Ramon Magsaysay Center. Shouldn't it be facing Roxas Boulevard??? Anyway, because it was facing on the side, the driveway looks cramped and small. It is also inclined like a small hill made of stone bricks.

Once we got into the lobby, I found it to be chaotic. There were kids running around in their bathrobes! That really upset me. I mean, how did they get as far as the lobby in their freaking bathrobes?!?

I went to the reception people and asked where the Events Office is. I could not resist taking a picture of the fresh yellow flowers in the lobby area.

So off we went to the Events Office, me and the FILs. Since it was a holiday, there was only one AE in the office. I have been corresponding to someone via email but she was not there that day. But what I can say is, the AE of Manila Diamond Hotel is prettier than that of the Manila Hotel. Like, way prettier.

*LOL*

Also, their office is so much nicer and cleaner. It is more orderly with free snacks and drinks. Manila Hotel's Banquet Sales Office was an utter mess. Here is a picture of Manila Diamond Hotel's Events Office and Showroom.

The package being offered by Manila Diamond Hotel also includes a 3 layer cake. Here are samples of their cakes. The only edible part is the bottom one which will be used for cake cutting.

Their package also includes a bridal car that I can use for 3 to 4 hours. Here are the possible choices. Personally, I would go for a vintage car. But I think they would charge additional for that. But it was indicated in the package that we can use either a Lincoln Stretch Limo or the Chrysler. Not too shabby, eh? Can't complain with those choices!

Here is the entrance to the ballroom. Even from the outside, it is obvious that it has nothing vintage-ish about it. And also, I now understand the running people in bathrobes, the pool was right beside the ballroom. Hopefully, if I choose to go with them, there won't be a similar scene.

Of course I had to take a picture of the chandelier. It was pretty in a modern, contemporary way, I think.

Ooohh, I love the couple chairs! I asked the AE if there would be a couple backdrop to go with this and they said yes. They can customize but I bet it would be really expensive. Maybe I can have one made for me like I planned originally.

Here is a view of the couple table from a far. There is a mini stage on the right for the wedding cake and the mini stage on the left is for the quartet which is also included in the package. We had the option if we want to have 2 instruments and a male and female singer, 3 instruments and 1 singer (male or female depending on our choice), or an all string ensemble.

The team were preparing the tables for an event the next morning so this is the dummy set up before it is spruced up with table settings and flowers.

I love shiny things! So I was attracted to the small chandeliers attached to the mirror walls of the ballroom. It has small diamond like thingies all around the fluorescent bulbs. Like!

The package that I am interested to get from The Manila Diamond is the Sit Down Menu A.

Here are the package inclusions for this:

On the wedding day itself...

On the honeymoon and our first year anniversary...

The good thing about this package is we can convert the SPArty into another room, we can also already use the superior room for the anniversary incentive. So that will give us additional 2 rooms that our family can use. In case we need more rooms they can give us a discounted rate of PhP 5,500 per room instead of their regular rate of PhP 6,800 to PhP 8,000 per night.

Their offering would already be perfect but I was saddened with their sit down menu. It only has 4 courses. Here is what I have chosen so far:

Salad: Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad
Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumber Ribbons, Shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese

Soup: Onion Soup Gratinee
Gruyere Cheese, Garlic Crouton

For the main dish, I am hoping they can ask the guests first before preparing since I am not sure that all the guests would eat chicken or pork. I will have to check on that. But here are my choices:

Crispy Chicken Supreme with Prosciutto, Sage and Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
Freshly Sautéed Asparagus, Kalamata Olives and Almonds
Forest Mushrooms and Mascarpone Cheese Soft Polenta
Chardonnay Wine Cream Sauce

Prosciutto and Basil Wrapped Pork Tenderloin
Roasted Squash and Green Beans in Balsamic Vinegar
Cauliflower and Garlic Puree
Black Bean Sauce

For Dessert: Chocolate Mozart Cake
Cinnamon-Hazelnut Pastry, Sautéed Granny Smith Apples with Vanilla Ice Cream

Compared to the sit down menu of Manila Hotel, this seems too little for me. I sent an email showing them the menu I liked from Manila Hotel and asked if they can give me something like that and how much it would be. I haven't received an answer yet. Hopefully I will hear back from them by tomorrow.

So far, The Manila Diamond Hotel is at the top of my list for venues. Just like Manila Hotel, I just need to make a down payment of PhP 50,000 to block out date but we will still be affected by the 10% increase. As per the AE, by making the reservation this year we will get the 2013 rates. If we book next year, we will get the 2014 rates which would mean 20% increase from the one I have now, 10% for 2013 and another 10% for 2014.

I am already itching to book my wedding reception venue so I can already remove this from my To Do List. So hopefully I can already come to an agreement with the Manila Diamond Hotel by next week.

Cheerio!

  2. Hey, Ikslavski. Yep! We booked Diamond Hotel instead. I will have food tasting with them early next year so we can decide if we want to add more to our menu if we feel the serving is small. :)
