Diamond Hotel Food Tasting

Since we are down to just a little over two months before our big day, I wanted to finalize our menu for the reception. I set up a meeting with our AE from Diamond Hotel for our food tasting together with our coordinator.

I specifically wanted a sit down setting because I don't want people standing up and falling in line for their food. I find this chaotic! I know most would go for a buffet setting but I wanted it fine dining. To each his own, okay?? *LOL*

Okay, so here is what we chose for our menu:

Appetizer: Endive Salad
Soup: Onion Soup Gratinee
Main Dish: Crispy Chicken Supreme Proscuitto, Sage and Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
Desserts: Espresso and Sambucca Creme Brulee

Our AE suggested other food items aside from what we chose which are the following:

Appetizer: Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad
Soup: Salmon Bisque
Main Dish: Pan Roasted Forest Mushroom Stuffed Chicken Supreme
Desserts: Chocolate Mozart Cake

I agreed to also give these a taste so we can decide which ones are better.

So, here is what we had on our food tasting:

Salad

Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad

Endive Salad

Our Verdict: We liked the Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad better. One, I am a sucker for Caesar salad. Two, see that orange rose on the side that looks like garnish? That's the salmon. It was delish! Plus, it has a healthy serving of Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese. Perfect combination!

Soup

Double Beef Consomme

Salmon Bisque

Our Verdict: We loved the Salmon Bisque!! It tasted like shrimps! We didn't like the Double Beef Consomme. As per the chef they replaced the Onion Soup Gratinee with this one. It tasted like soup from beef mami! No freaking way!

Main Dish

Crispy Chicken Supreme Proscuitto,
Sage and Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese

Pan Roasted Forest Mushroom Stuffed Chicken Supreme

Our Verdict: For a change, I can say we made a good first choice with the Crispy Chicken Supreme. The mascarpone cheese soft polenta was super yummy! And the chardonnay wine cream sauce was really tasty. We finished it to the last bite and drop! I found the pan roasted forest mushroom stuffed chicken supreme too salty.

Dessert

Espresso and Sambucca Creme Brulee

Chocolate Mozart Cake

Our Verdict: It was a landslide victory for the Chocolate Mozart Cake. The cinnamon-hazelnut pastry, apples, vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate powder was a wonderful combination. The Espresso and Sambucca Creme Brulee tasted like coffee flavored gelatin.

So, here is our final menu:

Appetizer: Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad
Soup: Salmon Bisque
Main Dish: Crispy Chicken Supreme Proscuitto, Sage and Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
Desserts: Chocolate Mozart Cake

Out of the 4 food items, we only got one good choice. The rest was what our AE recommended. Good job to her!

The serving of the food was also big. I was full by the time I finished the soup and I still had the main entree and dessert to eat! We were also served a choice of coffee or tea which will also be available for our guests.

Overall, we were satisfied with what we will be serving on our wedding reception. We already chose the linens, our coordinator finalized the details we needed. We are all set!
